Take a famous folk tale, turn a few things upside down, and let the music have its way with it. This new musical "The Frog- Princess" keeps the wit, drama, and surprising turns of the original while giving the story a fresh theatrical life.

 

Scary witch Baba-Yaga becomes a beautiful lady with a broken heart, Tsar's future daughters-in-law instead of competing unite in making their "karavay", traditionally baked by women for special occasions.

Classical operatic gestures meet light jazz rhythms, unexpected harmonies, and a musical language entirely its own. The result is playful without being frivolous, sophisticated without taking itself too seriously—and just far enough from the familiar to make you wonder what you thought you knew.​

The new musical is the result of a collaboration between librettist Alexandra Ivanskaya and composer Nina Siniakova.
